Learn More About RSS Feeds

Q. What’s an RSS feed?

A. An RSS feed is a tool to get the latest information posted to a website or on a blog without having to go back and visit the site to check for new information. Instead of having to visit, you will get an e-mail, or an update on your feedreader, with the same information in it. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication.

Q. How do I know a feed is available?

A. When you see a little orange button that looks like this RSS chicklet or the words “subscribe to our feed” on a site, that means there is a feed available.

Q. What’s a feedreader?

A. A feedreader is a tool that lets you organize all the feeds you subscribe to on one page so you can read through the them all in one place. Some are web based services that you sign up for (most are free), and some are software you can download onto your computer (some are free). There is also a feedreader built into Internet Explorer versions 7 and up. You can use any feedreader.

Q. Do I have to have one?

A. No, you don’t need a feedreader to get our feeds. The feeds on our site are set up so you can choose to have the information sent to your e-mail inbox if you prefer.

Q. Ok, I’m ready, how do I get the Children’s Alliance RSS feeds?

A. To sign up for a feed from the Children’s Alliance click one of the links at the top of this page.
