WHO: Hundreds of parents, their children, and community leaders from across the state, including Spokane, Wenatchee and Seattle.
WHAT: Rally to protect kids and families and deliver the message: “KIDS CAN’T WAIT!” Speaking will be Seattle mother Sebrena Burr, about the power of advocacy to change the lives of children; and Olympia student Ashley Terry, age 14, to tell about her experience struggling with the unmet need for dental care.

: Kids will lead chants and a march around the Capitol building, backed by Tacoma’s Lincoln High School Drumline.
WHERE: Capitol Steps, Olympia, Wash.
WHEN: 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon, Tuesday February 16, 2016.
WHY: "Our Kids, Our Future - Kids Can't Wait!" All kids deserve a clear, broad pathway to reach their vast potential. Racism and poverty are still blocking opportunity for far too many of our children. When we speak up together, advocacy works. At Have a Heart for Kids Day, advocates are asking lawmakers to:
  • invest in kids with fair, equitable, sustainable revenue
  • fully restore TANF income assistance to thousands of families struggling to meet their basic needs
  • authorize dental therapists for greater access to oral health care
  • prevent thousands of kids from being stuck on a waitlist for early learning opportunities.
