When I stepped into my role as the new Executive Director of Children’s Alliance, I was humbled to succeed Paola Maranan, a dear friend who I’ve long admired as a champion for racial equity. I was equally excited to join an organization with a well-deserved reputation for advancing anti-racism.

In just half a year, life in Washington state has changed profoundly. The global pandemic has taken the lives of more than 2,000 of our neighbors, friends and family. The recession has cost 200,000 workers their jobs.
On August 20th and 25th, Children's Alliance met virtually with community members from across our state to strengthen and grow our commitment to racial justice for children and families, and our relationships with our fellow advocates, and to introduce our new Executive Director Dr. Stephan Blanford to our membership to share his vision and values.
