Megan is passionate about strengthening families, assisting previously incarcerated individuals with re-entry, ending mass incarceration, and dismantling racist systems. A former teen and incarcerated mother, she overcame systemic barriers to become a licensed foster parent in 2012 and has adopted four children involved in the foster care system.
Megan has extensive experience volunteering with, and leading, community-based organizations to tackle food insecurity, change policy to help previously incarcerated individuals to gain employment and housing, organize voter engagement drives, coach at risk youth, and organize listening sessions to uplift community voices. Through this work she co-founded the Eastern Washington chapter of All of Us or None, a grassroots organization fighting for the rights of formerly and currently incarcerated people. Megan completed 2020 Parent Ambassadors advocacy and leadership training, and currently co-chairs Spokane Public School’s Citizens’ Advisory Committee.
