Have a Heart for Kids Day 2020

2011 Legislative Session: Stand Strong for Kids

The economic recovery is slow. The ripple effects of cuts to programs that are vital to kids are piling up. More must be done to help families survive.

During the 105 days of 2011 state legislative session, beginning Monday, January 10th, Children's Alliance is advocating to protect opportunity and public programs that are supporting kids and families through tough times.

Today, thanks to the work of mindful taxpayers and prudent public officials, our state has built structures that play a key role in encouraging broadly shared prosperity; affordable health care for children and families, food assistance, early learning and child care programs.

Together, these and other successful programs have laid the groundwork for healthy growth. They are the foundation of a better future. We will not let them be destroyed.

Our core values do not change with the economy; they do not move with a line on a graph. We stand strong for the programs that are pivotal in helping kids survive these times and thrive in the future. Children from every part of Washington, and children who are often left behind, all need access to the fullest opportunities for growth and security.
