The Policy and Advocacy Associate is a dynamic position. This position involves a diverse range of work in several policy areas and in advocacy, with specific activities in digital communications. The Policy and Advocacy Associate assists the Children’s Alliance to actively respond to opportunities for advancing positive, racially equitable child and family policies at the state level. This position reports to the Children’s Alliance’s Deputy Director and is a member of the organization’s policy staff. This position is based in Seattle. This is a short term, hourly position through December 2018 with a flexible schedule. Some evening and weekend availability is required. While the hours are flexible, the requirements of the position will require a full time (37.5 hours/week) work hours at least from hiring through April 2018. Compensation is $31/hour. The Communications Assistant will support the implementation of communications and mobilization tactics that further Children’s Alliance public policy objectives. Included in this position are the tasks of building online membership and enhancing partnerships with organizations and individuals to forward the organization’s mission. This is a temporary, part-time position with no health, vacation or other benefits; it does include sick and family leave on a pro-rated basis of one hour of leave per 40 hours worked.
